As the last weeks of the Summer semester approach, Guelph Queer Equality (GQE) is slowly getting back into gear for the busy Fall semester. For all those returning Gryphons, welcome back and we hope to see you at our events and socials again this year! If you are just starting at the University of Guelph, we welcome you to our campus and encourage you to stop by our office in University Center Room 243 when we have full office hours in September! Until then, we have a couple of important notices for LGBTQ+ students:
CampOUT and OUTline are on hiatus. The two very valuable staff members at the University of Guelph that ran these LGBTQ+ programs have left to start on a new journey in their life, and everyone at GQE wishes them the best! Until their positions are filled, both of these programs are not running until further notice. If you would like to learn more about these programs, check them out on their website: CampOUT and OUTline.
Guelph Queer Equality is looking for volunteers! Whether you've just started at the University of Guelph or in your last year, it's never too late to volunteer with us! You can help run and design events, campaigns and become connected with the various organizations that help LGBTQ+ students at our university - there are a rainbow of opportunities available to you! Volunteers have access to a number of perks like a quiet study space, an end of the year volunteer dinner and reference letters after you have been an active volunteer for a minimum of one semester. After a semester volunteering with GQE, you are also eligible to run for a Coordinator position and become part of a dynamic team of LGBTQ+ student leaders working to develop and run programming that helps LGBTQ+ students feel accepted and safe at our university. If this sounds good to you, email us at email@example.com and join us!
If you would like more frequent updates about GQE, you can send us an email and we will add you to our mailing listserv. You will be seeing more posts from us as the Fall semester approaches, so keep checking this space (and your emails)! Stay fabulous!

Hello folks! This is our first post, which is just a test post to see if this website is functional. You see, this blog is linked to our university website so every time we make a post here, it also shows up over there. It's pretty rad. Anyway, look forward to more posts from us :)
